Teacher Gradebook is an Android app that teachers use to keep their own gradebook: classes, student names, assignments, scores, attendance and reports. This policy explains what happens to that information. The short version: it stays on your device.
This app holds student names and grades, and they stay on your device
The gradebook you build in Teacher Gradebook contains student names, scores, grades and attendance marks. All of it is stored only in the app's private storage on your phone or tablet.
- The app has no account and no sign-in, and it runs no server of its own. There is nowhere for your gradebook to be uploaded to, and the app never uploads it.
- The app has no internet permission. It cannot send your data anywhere by itself.
- The app contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking SDK.
- Nobody at DIGITAL SHIJIL LLC can see, access, recover or delete your gradebook. We never receive it.
Student information leaves your device only when you choose to send it: when you share a progress report, a gradesheet or a CSV file through Android's share sheet, or save "Export all my data" to a place you pick. Where it goes then is decided by you and by the app you share it with.
No claim of FERPA or GDPR compliance
Teacher Gradebook is a personal record-keeping tool for the teacher who installs it. It makes no claim of FERPA, GDPR or any other compliance on your school's or district's behalf, and it is not approved by, connected to or integrated with any school, district or student information system. You remain responsible for following your school's rules about student records, including whether you may keep them on a personal device. For personal record-keeping. Not an official document.
Information Google Play processes
The app sells Pro through Google Play Billing. When you open the Pro screen or make a purchase, the Google Play Store app on your device handles the payment and tells the app whether you own Pro. DIGITAL SHIJIL LLC never receives your payment details. Google's privacy policy applies to that processing: https://policies.google.com/privacy
The Google Play Billing library that the app uses sends Google diagnostic information about billing connections (for example, whether the Play Store responded). For Google Play's data safety form this is declared as:
App info and performance > Diagnostics: collected, not shared, required.
This diagnostic information contains no student names, grades or anything from your gradebook.
Backups
If you have turned on Android's backup to your Google account, Android may include the app's gradebook database and its settings in that backup, so they come back when you set up a new phone. That backup is stored in your own Google account under Google's terms; DIGITAL SHIJIL LLC has no access to it. The app's cached copy of your Pro status is never included; Google Play is asked again after a restore.
Your controls
- Export all my data (Settings) saves every term, class, student, score and attendance mark to a single file you choose, so you always hold your own copy.
- Delete all data (Settings) erases everything from the app on this device and returns it to a fresh install. Uninstalling the app does the same.
- Report files you generate are kept in the app's cache and removed by Delete all data.
Children
Teacher Gradebook is made for teachers, who are adults. It has no child-facing screens and is not directed at children. Students never use the app and never enter anything into it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at the address above with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing from you, a change can only ever describe what the app does on your device.
