Status Saver & Chat Archive is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to WhatsApp LLC or Meta.
This app collects nothing, sends nothing, and has no server.
Everything it shows you — the statuses in your folder, the chats you import, the statistics it works out — is read and stored on your own phone. There is no account to create, no login, and no analytics. We could not see your data if we wanted to, because it never reaches us.
The status folder. Statuses you have already viewed in WhatsApp are stored by WhatsApp in a folder on your device. The first time you open the Statuses tab, the app asks you to point the system file picker at that one folder. It reads that folder only, only while the screen is open, and only to list what is inside. It has no background service and no access to any other folder, to your messages, or to your contacts. You can withdraw this access at any time in your device's settings.
Chat export files. If you use the Chat archive tab, you choose a .txt or .zip
file that you exported from WhatsApp yourself, using the system file picker. The app
reads that file on your device and saves the messages into its own local database so
you can search them later. The file is never uploaded.
The app cannot read your WhatsApp messages directly. It has no notification listener, no accessibility service, and no way to intercept anything. The only chat content it ever sees is a file you exported and then handed to it.
None of this is backed up to the cloud. Automatic Google backup and device-to-device transfer are switched off for this app, so an imported chat stays on the phone it was imported on.
Copies of statuses you save are written to your normal gallery folders (Pictures or Movies, in a folder called "Status Archive"). Once saved, they are ordinary files that belong to you.
The Saved tab simply lists that one folder, so you can find a copy again or delete it. It can only see files this app itself saved - the rest of your gallery stays invisible to it.
No personal information. No email address, name, phone number or location. No contacts. No advertising identifier or device identifier. No usage analytics, no crash reporting, no tracking of any kind. This version of the app contains no advertising SDK.
The app makes no network requests of its own and contains no HTTP client.
You may notice that the app lists internet permission. That permission is added automatically by two Google libraries the app uses:
Both talk to the Google Play Store, not to us, and neither sends them your statuses, your chats or your settings.
Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Google Play. We never see or receive your card details, billing address or any other payment information. The app only asks Google Play whether this account owns the Pro product, and Google Play answers yes or no. That is also why your purchase comes back automatically when you reinstall the app.
Google's handling of the transaction is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Export everything. Settings → Export all my data writes every archived chat, every message and every setting to a single readable JSON file that you can save or send wherever you like.
Delete everything. Settings → Delete all data permanently removes every archived chat and resets every setting. There is nothing on a server to delete afterwards, because there is no server. Files you already saved into your gallery are deliberately left alone — those are your photos now, not the app's data, and you can delete them from your gallery as usual.
Uninstalling the app also removes its database and settings.
This app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a future version of the app ever starts collecting anything — for example if advertising is enabled — this policy will be updated before that version is published, and the change will be described here rather than buried.
