Vegetable Garden Planner: Privacy Policy
Effective 26 September 2026. This policy covers the Android app Vegetable Garden Planner (package com.digitalshijil.gardenplanner), published by DIGITAL SHIJIL LLC. Questions: contact@digitalshijil.com.
The short version
- There is no account, no sign-in and no server. Your garden plan stays on your device.
- The app never asks for your location. You pick a place from a list built into the app, or type your own frost dates.
- The app contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking code.
- The only data that leaves the device is what Google Play itself collects when you buy or manage Pro, and anything you choose to share or export yourself.
What the app stores, and where
Everything below is stored only in the app's private storage on your device:
- Your frost dates, and the place you picked (a city name from the built-in list) if you picked one.
- The crops in your garden and any changes you make to their timings or spacing, and any crops you add.
- Your seasons, beds (names, sizes and positions on your plot) and the crops planted in each square.
- Journal entries: dates, sowings, germination, planting out, harvest amounts, notes and optional photos.
- Your settings (units, reminder choice and day).
We, the publisher, never receive any of it. We cannot see, recover or delete it for you.
Location
The app does not request location permission and has no way to know where you are. Frost dates come from a table of NOAA weather-station averages shipped inside the app; choosing a city only selects a row of that table on your device.
Photos
The app does not request camera or storage permissions. When you add a photo to a journal entry, Android's Photo Picker hands the app only the image you picked. The app keeps a reduced copy in its private storage. Photos are not added to your gallery and are not uploaded.
Notifications
If you turn on the weekly reminder (a Pro feature), the app asks for permission to show notifications. Reminders are scheduled on the device. If you decline, everything else keeps working.
Backups
If Android backup is switched on for your Google account, Android may include this app's garden data, settings and journal photos in your own device backup, so they can be restored to a new phone. That backup is stored by Google under your account and is governed by Google's privacy policy; the publisher has no access to it. You can turn Android backup off in your device settings.
Purchases (Google Play)
Pro is sold as a one-time purchase or a yearly subscription by Google Play. Google processes your payment details and purchase history; the app never sees your card or payment details. The app asks Google Play only whether your account owns Pro.
The Google Play Billing library built into the app sends diagnostic information about the billing connection to Google. In the Play Console Data safety form this is declared as: App info and performance > Diagnostics: collected, not shared, required. This data is used by Google to operate and troubleshoot purchases; it is not used by the publisher, and it is not used for advertising.
Sharing and exports
Nothing is shared unless you do it. When you share a season plan PDF, a harvest CSV or "Export all my data", the file is created on your device and handed to the destination you choose (email, a messaging app, a file location). What happens to it after that is governed by the app or service you choose.
Deleting your data
Settings > Delete all data removes every bed, crop change, season, journal entry, photo and setting from the device and cancels the reminder, returning the app to a fresh install. Uninstalling the app also removes all of its data from the device. Deleting data does not cancel a subscription; manage subscriptions in Google Play.
Children
The app is a gardening tool for a general audience aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Growing information
Frost dates are averages from NOAA's 1991 to 2020 climate normals for the nearest listed weather station, and hardiness zones come from the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map (2023, data by the PRISM Group, Oregon State University). Crop timings are general home-garden guidance. Local conditions vary; adjust for your garden. The app gives no pesticide or chemical advice and does not identify wild plants.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at https://apps.digitalshijil.com/garden-planner/privacy/ with a new effective date, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
