Privacy Policy — Brown Noise for Sleep & Focus

This policy covers the Android app Brown Noise for Sleep & Focus (package com.veltislabs.brownnoise), published by Veltis Labs LLC.

The short version

This app has no account, no sign-in and no server. It does not collect, transmit or share any personal information. Everything you create in it stays on your device, and you can export or delete all of it at any time from Settings. The one exception is Google's own: the Google Play Billing library inside the app sends Google diagnostic logs about billing connections, as described under "Network access" below.

What the app stores, and where

Everything below is stored only in the app's private storage on your device. None of it is uploaded anywhere.

• Your mixes and presets — the noise colours, volumes, filter settings and stereo width you choose, and any presets you save with a name you typed.
• Your settings — theme, sleep timer length, fade length, keep-screen-on, and your wake alarm time if you enable one.
• Whether you have purchased Pro — stored as a single yes/no value, purely so the screen does not flicker while the app checks with Google Play. Google Play remains the authority on this and is asked again every time you open the app.

If you uninstall the app, this is all removed by Android. If you have Android's own backup enabled in your system settings, your presets and settings may be included in that backup; that backup is between you and Google, and this app never reads it back as proof of purchase.

What the app does not do

• It does not collect personal information — no name, email, phone number or address.
• It does not ask for or receive your location.
• It does not use the microphone. It only plays sound.
• It does not read your photos, files or media.
• It does not contain analytics, crash reporting or attribution SDKs. The only logging that leaves the device is the Play Billing library's own diagnostic logs, described below.
• It does not contain advertising, and does not read your advertising ID.
• It does not track you across apps or websites.
• It does not track, measure or record anything about your sleep.

Network access

The app itself makes no network requests of its own.

Android will show that the app holds the INTERNET permission. That permission is added automatically by the Google Play Billing library, which the app uses for the single optional Pro purchase.

That library also sends Google diagnostic logs about its own work: whether a connection to Google Play succeeded or failed and whether a billing call worked. It does this even if you never buy anything. These logs contain none of your presets, settings or anything you typed. They are collected by Google, not by Veltis Labs, are encrypted in transit, and are governed by the Google Privacy Policy. Veltis Labs cannot see or delete them.

Purchases

The Pro unlock is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Google Play.

Your payment is processed by Google. This app never sees, handles or stores your card details, billing address or any other payment information. What the app receives back from Google Play is a single confirmation that the purchase exists. Google's handling of that transaction is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Play Terms of Service, not by this policy.

Refunds are requested through Google Play, not through the app. If a purchase is refunded, the app locks Pro again the next time it is opened.

Notifications

When sound is playing, the app shows an ongoing notification with the playback controls. This is a requirement for audio that continues with the screen off, and it is what puts the controls on your lock screen. On Android 13 and later the app asks for notification permission once. You can decline — playback still works, you just will not get the lock screen controls.

Your controls

Both of these are in Settings, and neither requires an account:

• Export all my data — writes everything the app holds (your presets and your settings) to a JSON file, at a location you choose through the system file picker. The file is created on your device and is not sent anywhere.
• Delete all data — permanently removes every preset and every setting from this device, after a confirmation. This cannot be undone. Your Pro unlock is held by Google Play and is not affected.

You can also uninstall the app, which removes all of it.

Children

This app is intended for adults and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone, including children.

Your rights under GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA

These laws grant rights over personal data that a company holds about you — access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to object to sale.

This app holds no personal data about you, and Veltis Labs LLC receives no personal data from it. There is nothing for us to look up, correct, export or delete, because none of it ever reaches us. The export and delete controls described above give you complete access to and control over everything the app stores, directly and immediately.

We do not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined by the CCPA, because we do not receive any.

For purchase records and for the Play Billing library's diagnostic logs, Google is the data controller. Requests about either should go to Google.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app changes what it stores or adds anything that transmits data — advertising, for example — this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change. Material changes will be noted in the Play Store "What's new" text for that release.
