Beekeeping Hive Log: Privacy Policy

Beekeeping Hive Log ("the app") is published by VELTIS LABS LLC, 30 N Gould St Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA ("we"). This policy explains what happens to information in the app. It is published at https://apps.digitalshijil.com/beekeeping/privacy/ and applies to the Android app on Google Play.

The short version

• Your apiaries, hives, inspections, photos, queens, mite counts, treatments, feeding and harvest records are stored only on your phone.
• There is no account, no sign-in and no server. We never receive your records.
• The app has no ads, no analytics and no crash-reporting SDK, and it does not read your location or use your microphone.
• Google Play Billing sends Google some diagnostic information when the app checks or makes a purchase (see below).

What the app stores on your phone

Everything you enter: apiary names and the places you type for them, hive details, inspection notes and ratings, queen records, varroa counts, treatments, feeding, harvest weights, colony events, your settings, and photos you take or choose for an inspection. Photos are copied into the app's private storage and re-saved at a smaller size, which also removes location tags the original photo may have carried.

This information stays in the app's private storage on your device. If you use Android's own backup (Google backup or moving to a new phone), Android may include the app's records and photos in that backup under your Google account; that is controlled by your device settings, not by us.

What leaves your phone, and when

• Files you choose to share. When you export a PDF, a spreadsheet (CSV) or "Export all my data", the file goes only where you send it from the share sheet or the file picker.
• Google Play Billing. To show the price of Pro, make the purchase and confirm it on later starts, the app uses the Google Play Billing library. Google collects diagnostic information about these requests. In Play's Data safety terms this is declared as: App info and performance > Diagnostics: collected, not shared, required. Payment details are handled by Google Play and never reach the app or us. Google's privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy
• Nothing else. The app's own code makes no network request.

Permissions

• Notifications (Android 13 and later): asked only when you switch on a reminder. If you refuse, reminders stay off and the app explains how to allow them later.
• No camera permission. Photos are taken by your phone's camera app, which hands one picture back to this app, or chosen with the Android photo picker.
• No location, microphone, contacts or storage permission. Voice notes use your keyboard's own dictation.
• Google Play Billing and Android's WorkManager (which runs reminders and restores them after a restart) add internet, network-state, billing, wake-lock, start-on-boot and foreground-service permissions to the app package. The app's own code uses none of them for anything else.

Your choices and deleting your data

• Settings > Export all my data saves every record to a file you choose.
• Settings > Delete all data erases every apiary, hive, record, photo, setting and scheduled reminder from the phone and returns the app to a fresh install. Uninstalling the app also removes everything.
• Because we never receive your records, there is nothing for us to delete on a server. A Pro purchase is kept by Google Play under your Google account.

Children

The app is intended for users aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone.

No advice

The app records what you observe. It gives no treatment, dose or disease advice; for that, consult your local bee inspector or beekeeping association. Documents the app creates are for personal record-keeping: For personal record-keeping. Not an official document.

Changes

If the app's behaviour changes, this policy is updated first and the date above changes with it.
